    Strategic innovation management at Netflix: a case study

    Netflix is a company that implemented a disruptive innovation and shocked the business market with its way to create and deliver value to their customers, breaking away with the old way to watch a movie at home. The culture of freedom and responsibility engaged by a radical transparency is committed by the whole company where every kind of employee at all teams share ideas and know everything about the company’s strategy. This research consists of a description and analysis of the strategic approaches used by Netflix that explain its business success and demonstrates the technology and the business development made by one the most important players in the streaming service. It is entirely based on secondary data obtained through an exploratory literature review over the last ten years. The model by which Netflix manages its innovation process is based on agile frameworks who actively engage the developer’s team, team leaders, and top management and have the costumer at the center of the value stream. The internal culture of the firm, based on ample freedom and responsibility, and engaged by a radical transparency, is pursued by the whole company where every kind of employee, in all teams, share ideas and know everything about the company’s strategy. The article explores and emphasizes the main aspects of the company’s strategy to innovation which is based on the development of specific technological approaches based on purpose made algorithms that works to map the streaming user’s preferences. It is coupled with the implementation and constant dissemination of the agile mindset linked with frameworks, methods, and techniques such as Scrum, Kanban, and Agile at Scale, which together enable Netflix to sustain and promote its innovative business process.     Industrial training qualitative evaluation with fuzzy logic and an experience classification method

    It is usual that companies must develop their own training processes, adaptable to their own production systems. In fact, the evaluation of the training process is a function of significant importance and must guarantee means for the identification of demands for corrective actions and for a procedure that ensures the continuous evolution of the process, therefore, that meets a dynamic of continuous improvement. The evaluation of a training process aims to provide information to support the decision making of the trainer, the process manager and other decision makers. This paper aims to propose a model of qualitative evaluation for industrial training based in fuzzy logic and a method of classification of training experiences. This training evaluation model considers the level of uncertainty that exists in qualitative responses (from trainees) and based on this, proposes a method for defining priorities for decision-making and carrying out improvement actions with the aim of evolving the training program.     A Criação musical em estúdio: da produção pop à música experimental

    This work presents a study on musical creation made in studios through technological use, focusing on practices applied to popular music and the use of the computer as a creative tool. Thus, the objective is to understand the main sound creation and manipulation techniques used in this context, in order to apply them in experimental creation processes. Therefore, a historical overview of the main technological changes of the 20th and early 21st centuries that impacted the compositional thinking of the period is presented, in addition to the descriptive analysis of the creation of the album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” by singer Billie Eilish, addressing aspects of musical creation in the home studio. Testimonials and interviews of composers were used as a methodological resource for analysis, besides literature reviews. Finally, the compositional report of the cello piece entitled “UCO” is presented, conceived by the authors through the analyzes carried out.Este trabalho apresenta um estudo sobre a criação musical feita em estúdios por meio da mediação tecnológica, com foco nas práticas aplicadas à canção popular e na utilização do computador como ferramenta criativa. Assim, objetiva-se compreender as principais técnicas de criação e manipulação sonoras utilizadas neste contexto, a fim de aplicá-las em processos de criação experimentais. Para isso, foi feito um apanhado histórico das principais mudanças tecnológicas do século XX e início do século XXI que impactaram o pensamento composicional do período, somando-se à análise dos processos criativos do álbum “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” da cantora Billie Eilish, abordando aspectos da criação musical em home studio. Utilizou-se como recurso metodológico para as análises depoimentos e entrevistas dos compositores, além de revisões bibliográficas de produções acadêmicas que abordem a temática.     Characterising project management of lean initiatives in industrial companies - crossing perspectives based on case studies

    The paper mainly aims to characterise project management (PM) practices of industrial Lean initiatives by analysing and comparing three main topics: PM approaches, PM teams, and project alignment with the company's strategy. This research encompasses two exploratory industrial case studies with an extensive literature review. Key professionals were interviewed to obtain an in-depth vision of the field. The study results allowed characterising project management practices of industrial Lean initiatives in industrial companies based on the following dimensions: 1. Understand the needs; 2. Find a suitable team; 3. Use visual tools; 4. Apply a continuous improvement (CI) approach; 5. Identify KPIs for the context; 6. Get support from the top management. This work fills a gap related to studying the PM practices applied during the implementation of Lean initiatives, proposing a schematic representation of PM variables and actors in industrial Lean initiatives.     Application of lean management tools in industry 4.0: a systematic review

    The concept of Industry 4.0 is very recent and has not been fully consolidated, and, for this reason, comprehensive implementations by the industrial sector may not be prudent. Studies show that only fundamentals of Industry 4.0 do not guarantee characteristics such as quality, for example, in production processes. Thus, lean production concepts are probably being used together to cover deficiencies in Industry 4.0. In this work, a literature review is proposed that points out where lean production tools are being used in the production processes of Industry 4.0. Using the results of this search, an analysis of the most important lean production tools, which appear in the works, has been made. The analysis has shown what is being used, in terms of the lean tools, in the production processes of Industry 4.0, and what improvements are provided from these tools

    Client underwent to radical mastectomy and application of CIPE in a surgical oncology unit: A case study

    Objectives: To describe and analyze the use of taxonomy CIPE to the nursing process based on Orem's theory to a patient who underwent a radical mastectomy. Method: a case study, performed with the 53 patients, female, hospitalized in anoncologyunitin the city of Rio de Janeiro in April2011. Results: There were identified the main nursing diagnoses according to the CIPE: skin integrity at risk, current pain in the right breast, risk to self-esteem and low self-care. Then we constructed the plan of care containing interventions and results proposed by CIPE. Conclusion: It was possible to combine the use of the theory of Dorothea Orem taxonomyas a tool associated with taxonomy CIPE, adapting itself to the form of planning of nursing care

    Representação de acadêmicos de enfermagem acerca de sexualidade durante a amamentação

    Introduction: During the period of pregnancy and breastfeeding, women experience physiological, psychological, and structural changes; these changes can impact their sexuality. Health professionals should pay special attention to their particular needs and sexual rights. Objective: To understand the perception that nursing students have about sexuality during breastfeeding. Method: This is qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory research. Sixteen nursing students from a public university in the interior of Bahia, Brazil participated in the research. To collect the empirical data, the projective technique of drawing a story about a given theme was used and the result was analyzed using the technique of content analysis. Result: After the analysis, three categories were revealed: dormant sexual feelings and desires due to the attention given to the baby and household chores; sexuality represented by the demonstration of love, support, companionship, dedication, and respect to women during the period of breastfeeding; and sexuality interference permeated by the commitment of the woman's self-image and self-esteem. Conclusion: It is concluded that breastfeeding and sexuality were perceived by nursing students through socially established concepts, experienced or not. Therefore, it is extremely important to approach this topic during the training of health professionals to help them deconstruct those socially ingrained taboos.Introducción: Durante el período de embarazo y lactancia, las mujeres experimentan cambios fisiológicos, psicológicos y estructurales. Estos cambios pueden provocar cambios en la sexualidad femenina, por lo cual las personas profesionales de la salud deben prestar especial atención a sus necesidades particulares y derechos sexuales. Objetivo: Conocer las representaciones que la población estudiantil de enfermería tiene sobre la sexualidad durante la lactancia. Método: Se trata de una investigación cualitativa, descriptiva y exploratoria. Dieciséis estudiantes de Enfermería de una universidad pública del interior de Bahía, Brasil, participaron de la investigación. Para recolectar los datos empíricos, se utilizó la técnica proyectiva de dibujo-cuento con tema y se analizó mediante la técnica de análisis de contenido. Resultado: Después del análisis, se revelaron tres categorías: sentimientos y deseos sexuales latentes debido a la atención al bebé y las tareas del hogar, la sexualidad representada por la demostración de amor, apoyo, compañerismo, entrega y respeto a la mujer durante el período de lactancia, e interferencia en la sexualidad permeada por el compromiso de la propia imagen y autoestima de la mujer. Conclusión: Se concluye que la lactancia materna y la sexualidad fueron percibidas por las personas estudiantes de enfermería a través de conceptos socialmente establecidos, experimentados o no. Por lo que, es de suma importancia abordar este tema en la formación de las personas profesionales de la salud, para que puedan deconstruir algunos tabúes arraigados durante su desarrollo social.Introdução: Durante o período da gravidez e da amamentação a mulher vivência mudanças fisiológicas, psicológicas e de ordem estrutural, essas mudanças podem trazer alterações na sexualidade feminina, devendo os profissionais de saúde ter uma atenção especial as suas necessidades particulares e com direitos sexuais. Objetivo: Conhecer as representações que os acadêmicos de enfermagem possuem acerca da sexualidade durante a amamentação. Método: Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva e exploratória. Participaram da pesquisa 16 acadêmicos de Enfermagem de uma universidade pública do interior da Bahia, Brasil. Para coleta dos dados empíricos foi utilizado à técnica projetiva de desenho-estória com tema e analisados mediante a técnica de análise de conteúdo. Resultado: Após análise, revelaram-se três categorias: sentimentos e desejos sexuais adormecidos devido à atenção dispensada para o bebê e os afazeres domésticos; sexualidade representada pela demonstração de amor, apoio, companheirismo, dedicação e respeito à mulher durante o período de amamentação e interferências na sexualidade permeada pelo comprometimento da autoimagem e autoestima da mulher. Conclusão: Conclui-se que a amamentação e a sexualidade foi percebida pelos acadêmicos de enfermagem através de conceitos estabelecidos socialmente, vivenciados ou não, assim é de extrema importância à abordagem desse tema na formação dos profissionais de saúde, para que possam descontruir alguns tabus enraizados durante a sua construção social

    Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a complex psychiatric condition characterized by emotional, relational, and behavioral instability. Marked by a profound sense of emptiness, impulsivity, and an intense fear of abandonment, BPD presents unique challenges in the field of mental health. Patients often experience extreme mood swings, oscillating from euphoria to despair in short periods. Additionally, patterns of interpersonal relationships characterized by idealization and devaluation can exacerbate psychological distress. With the increasing recognition of the complexity of this psychiatric disorder, it becomes imperative to critically explore emerging diagnostic strategies to provide valuable insights for mental health professionals. By analyzing contemporary literature, we aim not only to identify diagnostic nuances but also to evaluate the effectiveness of the latest therapeutic interventions associated with BPD. This approach offers a comprehensive view of the current state of clinical practices and proposes critical reflections on the challenges and opportunities in BPD diagnosis. However, similar to the complications associated with addressing BPD, treating this disorder poses significant challenges, necessitating a multidisciplinary approach. Emotional instability can evolve into self-destructive behaviors, and psychosocial complications also warrant attention. Understanding the complexity of these challenges is crucial for guiding clinical interventions and preventive practices, aiming to ensure effective long-term outcomes for BPD patients. To effectively address the challenges and benefits associated with BPD diagnosis and treatment, this study emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, involving psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists. With a balanced and holistic perspective, this article aims to inform clinical practice and promote a careful and personalized approach to mitigate risks and optimize long-term results in the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder.O Transtorno de Personalidade Borderline (TPB) é uma condição psiquiátrica complexa que se destaca pela instabilidade emocional, relacional e comportamental. Caracterizado por uma profunda sensação de vazio, impulsividade e medo intenso do abandono, o TPB apresenta desafios singulares no campo da saúde mental. Os pacientes frequentemente experimentam oscilações extremas de humor, indo da euforia à desesperança em curtos períodos. Além disso, padrões de relacionamento interpessoal marcados por idealização e desvalorização podem tornar mais grave o sofrimento psicológico. Com o crescente reconhecimento da complexidade desse transtorno psiquiátrico, torna-se imperativo explorar criticamente as estratégias emergentes de diagnóstico, a fim de fornecer insights valiosos para profissionais de saúde mental. Ao analisar a literatura contemporânea, buscamos identificar não apenas as nuances diagnósticas, mas também avaliar a eficácia das intervenções terapêuticas mais recentes associadas ao TPB. Esta abordagem oferece uma visão abrangente do estado atual das práticas clínicas e propõe reflexões críticas sobre os desafios e oportunidades presentes no diagnóstico do TPB. Contudo, semelhante às complicações associadas à abordagem do TPB, o tratamento deste transtorno apresenta desafios significativos, exigindo uma abordagem multidisciplinar. A instabilidade emocional pode evoluir para comportamentos autodestrutivos, e complicações psicossociais, também merecem atenção. Compreender a complexidade desses desafios é crucial para orientar intervenções clínicas e práticas preventivas, visando garantir resultados eficazes a longo prazo para os pacientes com TPB. Para abordar efetivamente os desafios e benefícios associados ao diagnóstico e tratamento do TPB, este estudo destaca a importância de uma abordagem multidisciplinar, envolvendo psiquiatras, psicólogos e terapeutas.     Freireanas categories in nursing undergraduate education: integrative literature Review / Categorias freireanas no ensino de graduação em enfermagem: revisão integrativa da literatura

    Objetivo: identificar as principais publicações relacionadas às categorias Freireanas no ensino de graduação em enfermagem. Método: revisão Integrativa de literatura a partir da busca nas bases Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde, Sistema Online de Busca e Análise de Literatura Médica, Base de Dados de Enfermagem. Obteve-se 482 estudos, destes apenas 13 atendiam aos critérios de inclusão. Resultados: as categorias emergentes foram: diálogo e autonomia; tomada de consciência com vistas a formação de sujeitos críticos, reflexivos e participantes; metodologia da problematização para uma educação humanizante e um cuidar humanizado. Conclusão: conclui-se que a incorporação das categorias Freireanas no ensino de enfermagem é fundamental para um ensino com travessias dialógicas. Tal incorporação tece uma educação humanizante, caminho para o cuidado humanizado do discente/futuro profissional
